Ghorepani Poonhill Trek

  • Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu via various airlines and transfer to hotel.

    Today is your arrival day in Kathmandu at Tribhuwan International Airport, You will be picked up by our staff and transferred to the Hotel. Check-in to the Hotel and Overnight stay at the hotel.

  • Day 02: In Kathmandu sightseeing tour and trek preparation.

    After having your breakfast, morning sightseeing tour of Kathmandu famous world heritage sites of great interest led by our expert guide, as Kathmandu city steeped with ancient and old monuments that make the valley an interesting place to explore, then on afternoon preparation for the trek for Ghorepani and Poon Hill.

  • Day 03: Drive to Pokhara 860 m and transfer to hotel - 07 hrs journey.

    Morning at the earliest depart from the hotel by 7 a.m. and then on the road with an exciting drive to Nepal Mid west reaching Pokhara, a renowned touristic and beautiful place of Nepal and whole Himalaya areas.
    After reach at Pokhara transfer to you hotel near its serene Phewa Lake, Pokhara blessed with natural beauty located on the laps of Annapurna mountain range with towering peaks of Machhapuchhre the famous ‘Fish Tail’ that touches the surface of Phewa and Begnas Lakes. Whereas some trekkers can take the option of flying from Kathmandu to Pokhara(on extra payment) on a 30 minute scenic flight.

  • Day 04: Drive to Tikhedhunga 1,445 and trek to Ghorepani 2880 m -6 hours

    After morning brreakfast at hotel, start your journey onwards by driving to Tikhedhunga. A 2 hours drive through little village of Nayapul and Birethanti, a check post will take you to a riverside village of Tikhedhunga. After a drive stop we will begin our hike for the day. Our hike begins with a steep climb for an hour or more to large Ulleri village overlooking views of Annapurna and Machhapuchhre peaks, from Ulleri onward walks on nice pleasant winding up into cool shade of rhododendron and lush forest.
    As the walk leads to famous Ghorepani village for overnight as well as the major destinations of the trek located at the base of Poon Hill, Ghorepani offers grand views of Dhaulagiri range of mountains.

  • Day 05: Hike to Poon Hill 3,210 m and trek to Tadapani 2,630m -06 hrs.

    Early morning head for a climb to be at scenic Poon Hill offers stunning sunrise views over 360° wide panorama of snow-capped peaks from Dhaulagiri, Tukuche, and Nilgiri’s with massive Annapurna range includes Manaslu and towering Machhapuchhre Himal ‘Fish-Tail’ peak.
    After a glorious moment descends to Ghorepani for breakfast and continues the trek heading uphill into the forest along with mountain views.
    The walk leads down within dense woodland with a short climb to reach at Tadapani a small settlement having 8-10 nice lodges within forest surrounding with views of Annapurna peaks.

  • Day 06: Trek to Ghandruk (1,930 m) and transfer to lodge - 4 hrs.

    Tadapani enjoys morning views of high Annapurna peaks, today a short walk that takes you into beautiful woodland with a long descent to the large village of Ghandruk, populated by the Gurung community of Annapurna region.
    While in Ghandruk with the last overnight stop on high hills of Annapurna, explore local Gurung culture and visit a nice small museum with information on history and heritage life of Gurung people.

  • Day 07: Trek to road-head and drive to Pokhara - 4 hrs.

    The morning after breakfast with views of Annapurna descend to reach on the road-head pass several villages and then a short drive of a few hours reaches you back at lovely Pokhara by the lake Phewa. Finally, check-in to the hotel and overnight stay.

  • Day 08: Drive back to Kathmandu and transfer to a hotel.

    Morning after breakfast in the hotel departs for Kathmandu, more than five hours of interesting and exciting drives following the main highway through nice farm villages and towns with views of the snow-capped mountain range and green hills.
    As the drive continues then on winding up to reach top spot on the Kathmandu valley and the city, afternoon free for individual activities and shopping.

  • Day 09: Departure to respective countries.

    Last day in the land of the world's highest mountains and exciting cultures, as per your departure time for international flight our staff will transfer to the airport, with grand experience and beautiful memories of Nepal with Ghorepani and Poon Hill Trekking.

Ghorepani Poonhill is situated at an altitude of approximately 3,210 meters (10,532 feet). It is a popular trekking destination in the Annapurna region. It is named after the small Ghorepani village and poon hill nearby view point location. Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is a short and scenic route with cultural walks where the route takes through various small hill villages decorated with old Nepalese heritage culture and traditions, which make the trek more worthy.

The trek Ghorepani Poon Hill usually takes 9-10 days and it is considered as an easy moderate trek. This trek is suitable for all ages and fitness levels. It offers a stunning view of various snow capped mountains, including Dhaulagiri, Machapuchhre, Annapurna, and many other peaks which are near the Annapurna Mountain range. The trek usually starts from Nayapul, Small village located in the Kaski District of Nepal. It is a famous starting point trek for Annapurna region, including the famous Annapurna Base Camp Trek. This is a gateway trekking route of Ghorepani poon hill, which is majorly connected nearby to Pokhara, also a banks of Modi Khola river. Nayapul village provides facilities that make trekkers convenient and comfortable. Usually all months of the year except the wet monsoon times from June to mid-September, in this time the route is dangerous in comparison to other weather. March to May and September to November are the best seasons for trekking to Ghorepani Poon Hill. This season the weather is warm as well as a stable and pleasant walk with the beautiful nature. You will start walking gradually through the scenic views of villages, crossing over suspension bridges, picturesque villages to reach Tirkhedhunga, a small village situated at an altitude of approximately 1,570 meters. It is a resting point and accommodation stop for trekkers.

The village is surrounded by lush green hills, terraced fields. This village is inhabited by Gurung and Magar communities, which are known for their culture, traditions and their warm hospitality. You can find basic accommodation and facilities. From there you can gradually ascend and descend from various ups and downs including narrow paths, rugged paths in some routes, and then you will reach the small village Ulleri, which is famous for its thousands of stone steps that climb up the hill side. From there you will continue your trek through rhododendron and oak forests towards along with the beautiful turquoise waterfalls, then finally you reached Ghorepani village. It is situated at an altitude of approximately 2,850 meters. The trail takes through climbing stairs, passing through terraced fields and various small unknown villages. This trail can be a little bit challenging but the scenic views of natural beauty makes treks more worthy. It is a famous stopover before the nearby Poon Hill viewpoint reach. In there, you will see the various tea houses, guest houses, and a basic accommodation shops where you can rest and buy a basic needy things.

You may need two permits for Ghorepani Poonhill trek. They are TIMS card (Trekkers Information Management System) and ACAP (Annapurna Conservation Area Permit). These two permits are necessary to enter this region and for your safety as well as welfare. You must carry these permits during this trek. The trail ascends through a climb higher ups towards to reach viewpoint. In there, early in the morning around dawn, to catch the stunning sunrise view over the mountains, including 360 degree panorama views of snow capped peaks, Annapurna I, Annapurna South, Machhepuchhre and Dhaulagiri.
